About the Event
This visit will take us to the Boyne Valley, an area in Irelands Ancient East, renowned for its rich heritage.
The trip will include visits to two of the area’s important historical sites, the Battle of the Boyne Centre and Mellifont Abbey Monastic Site.
THE BATTLE OF THE BOYNE CENTRE.
This centre offers an immersive experience of the 1690 battle between King William III and King James
II, with exhibitions, historical reenactments and scenic walks. This pivotal battle shaped the political and religious landscape of Ireland and in fact Europe. The site includes the restored 18th century Mansion,
stable yard, walled gardens and extensive parklands. Visitors can explore using audio-visual presentations
